| The Story Behind This Watch |
This one was on the “lust list” for some time…well, it’s cousin, the Mission Antarctica was at first. Once I learned of this one, and that they were the same watch, just with different branding, I decided I would be happy with either one. But, neither one is available any longer, and there always seemed to be other priorities. Until…
I had seen a few of these go on the Seiko Citizen Trading Forum, and with eBay now saving favorite search criteria and emailing new auctions matching the search, I set one up for one of these (the criteria was: “citizen (mission antarctica,4×4)”). Got a couple hits right away, to my surprise. For both the MA and the 4X4. Problem became, a lack of funds! So, I made the decision to part with my Seiko Arctura Chronograph to raise some scratch towards this one. I figured since I had been wanting one for about 2 years, I may as well get it out of my system. Glad I did.
July 31, 2006 – So I just sold this one. What the hell was I thinking? I wanted one for so long, then I get it and sell it a year later? WTF!?! Well, in reality, I had grown tired of it. And I had the pleasure of wearing it for a year (not continuously, obviously). With the other dual time zone watches I have, this one just felt redundant, and under worn. I fact, a few weeks back it actually ran down and quit working, so I had to throw it in the window to recharge. So, it is off to a new home, and something else is coming in.
