The Story Behind This Watch

It took me a little while, but I finally came to the conclusion that I was ready to have a Sub-style watch back on my wrist. I’ve had a few before, phony and real, and none really “felt” like I thought they should. The Invicta 8926 being the real one of the bunch, and it was just too light on the wrist, and the movement was too flaky. The fakes fun, sure, good for a test drive, but long gone (save the one “fantasy” watch picked up at Canal St. back in Jan. of 2006 (hey, how could I visit Canal St. and not come away with something!)) So that left a couple of options from Bullova to Sandoz, with Marcello C falling in between (alphabet wise only).

I’ve been familiar with Marcello C for some time thanks to forum regular Matt V. who is Marcello C watches in the USA. I also knew that I would not have enough scratch together for a new one, so I knew used would be the way I would go. So, I sent off the Citizen 4X4 to raise funds and how about that, the same day it sold, I found a 4 month old Nettuno3 on the TZ sales corner! And it was only $55 more than I sold the 4X4 for, so my out of pocket cost was minimal. I sent the funds on Monday, July 31st and the watch arrived Tuesday, August 8th (thanks to FedEx Ground’s wonderful 5 day service).

My first impression is a good one – the watch feels solid, much better than the Invicta or any other wannabe that I have held. The seller was pretty good with his description as well, which made me feel good. One nick on the bezel between 35 & 40 that is barely noticeable (which may explain why it was not mentioned) and the bracelet could use a bath, otherwise it looks and feels like new.

I’m looking forward to a long time with this watch – this is as close to a Rolex as I will probably ever get, and I’m happy with that.
